1960 Rhodes 41

Portsmouth, Rhode Island

$189,000

Design History

The Rhodes Bounty II was created from the slightly larger Rhodes wooden sloop ALTAIR, by Phillip Rhodes son Bodie. The building company for Ranger, Aeromarine Plastic Co. (Fred Coleman and Vince Lazarra...family that founded Lazarra yachts) was eventually bought by Everett + Clint Pearson and molds were shipped to New England and approximately 50 Rhodes 41's were built and a cult following was developed with impressive racing results including the Newport to Bermuda Race.

Overview

“Ranger” was originally built in Salsalito, California by Aeromarine Plastic Co. and shipped to its first owner on Lake Superior, MI. In the mid 1980's the boat was purchased by the original owners friend and he helped sail it back to Holland, MI. He started a restoration that was never completed and it spent over 30 years in the barn before the current owner took over the project. It was in the water for it's maiden voyage last year and then put back into heated storage. Mast, boom, sails and all rigging are in the facility. Trailer is included. Trailer is roadworthy, but may need new tires etc. for a long trip.

Every inch of this classic sailing yacht has been professionally restored. This is an amazing restoration of an offshore sloop.
*Owner has documentation/receipts for up to $300K in upgrades and repairs.
